Expressing gratitude daily is associated with many mental and physical benefits, such as decreasing anxiety, improving sleep, mood and immunity. If there was a drug that could do this, we would all be taking it! Our brains are not wired to appreciate, and we must override this tendency like our lives depend on it!
I’m not saying you need to spend hours doing this. Set a time of day, maybe upon waking or at bedtime. Be thankful for people, positive experiences, or certain every day things you typically take for granted. Big things and little things. Write them down, reflect on a walk, or simply sit and run through them in your head.
