Fatigue

An impaired immune system can lead to fatigue, which makes it all the more important to take extra special care to ensure better energy levels.

Proper rest of course is of paramount importance. Don’t fight it. In my recovery experience, I realized I needed to pay attention to what my body was telling me. And believe me, I am stubborn when it comes to my exercise regime. It was extremely difficult to take it down a few notches. Walk, don’t run. And when you need a nap or down time, do it!

Nutrition plays a huge role in energy levels. Nutrient dense foods, enough protein and food at frequent intervals will help. Reduce or eliminate sugar, alcohol, processed and refined foods and caffeine. Drink lots of water.

Managing stress and anxiety as mentioned in a previous post, can drain mental and physical capacity. Take steps to learn relaxation techniques, talk to family, friends or counsellors, exercise and get consistent rest and sleep.

And always ask for help when you need it!
